As humans, relationships are essential to our survival and well-being. Yet modern society has left us ill-equipped to form, nurture, and maintain deep, authentic relationships – starting from childhood. “Normal” relationships are conditional, transactional, and fragmented. We mask our true selves behind scripted dialogue and polite talk. But inside we yearn to be seen & heard, accepted & understood.

Here, we begin an open-ended journey into learning the knowledge & practicing skills that nurture authentic relationships with each other, ourselves, and within members of our circle of influence. This is done within the framework of a 2-hour workshop followed by 1 – 2 month-long mentorships within a study group. This work necessarily needs to be done within community because we learn and heal in relationships.

There are three areas of focus

1. Deep listening skills to support communication which kindle relationship.
2. Honest expression skills to enhance respect which fosters loving connection.
3. Repairing rupture skills to lovingly correct harm through sincere apologies which strengthens trust.

While it may seem daunting to consider learning all these skills and/or consider the long-term commitment, I invite you to simply start with the first workshop and see how it works for you.  And while it may be challenging at times, it will be equally rewarding.  And most importantly, we will be doing this together.

Since each skill lays the foundation for the next.  Honest Expression is not possible if no one is listening with heart. Repairing ruptures can’t happen when there isn’t authentic sharing. So, we move on to the next topic when the group, as a whole, is confident with and comfortable practicing the skills of the workshop. We move at a human pace.

And what happens if someone leaves, or gets sick or any number of things? We discuss this together and figure out what works for everyone. We adapt as creatures of Nature do.

Additionally, self-compassion and self-forgiveness are cornerstone practices for this work because they are shame dissolving and fear relieving.  They are how you can settle into self-acceptance and non-judgement. This is how you can become free from the threads of supremacy and domination and root into belonging through interconnection and interdependence.
